1) What makes it good? It uses contrast by using different colors in the border and the symbol in the top left.It uses proximity by splitting up the paragrahs which can also count for alignment as well. It also uses proximity and contrast at the top where it says The University of Texas at Austin in all caps then organized with a line underneath.
What makes it bad? I don't find anything on this letter to be bad.I think they did a good job making it look organized and interesting to read instead of just a boring letter. It also looks very professional.

2)
Dear Parents,
My name is Ms. Jones and your son/daughter is enrolled in my psychology class this semester. I am looking forward to an exciting year. It is my goal to provide all students with an educationally challenging, yet fun, experience in my classroom.
Psychology is a very demanding course. We will cover 19 chapters in 18 weeks. There will be homework assignments almost daily. Each student will need a single subject notebook, a pocket folder, blue or black pens and pencils. These materials should be brought to class every day. We cover a lot of material in one class period so locker passes will not be issued.
Hopefully, your son/daughter has brought home their course syllabus and you have both read and signed the syllabus contract. I have written this contract to ensure that both the students and their parents understand how this course will run. If you have any questions regarding the syllabus or the course, please contact me.
I have extremely high expectations of all my students, and for that I will not apologize. I am asking for your help to maintain those expectations by checking with your son/daughter periodically to make sure that his/her work is being done. I am available to help students individually before school, during my prep periods, and after school. I have included a copy of the course syllabus with this letter. If you would like me to notify you of test dates and/or update you on your son/daughter’s progress, please fill out and return the e-mail form included with this letter. Please do not hesitate to contact me at 123-456-7890 x 4303 or jane.jones@anyschooI.k12.wi.us if you have any questions or concerns during the year.
Thank you,
What makes it good? In this example the author uses alignment by splitting up the different paragrahs and you can see how it is aligned when you look at the right side of the page. He uses repeptition with the words students to emphasize who he is speaking about to the reader. The writier makes it very clear who the audience is by addressing the letter to the partents.
What makes it bad? There is no contrast used that would make a parent interested to read this letter. I think he should have split it up more instead of having things just clumped together such as indenting before paragraph.

3) What makes it good? They use contrast by using different fonts as well as different sizes at the top to make the camp name stand out. They use alignment by indenting every paragraph and proximity by splitting the paragraphs up to make the letter more organized and easier to understand.
What makes it bad? I don't like the font they used, I think they could have chose a better font escpecially since the letter is adressed to parents. I also don't like the alignment of Camptime 1952 because it does not flow with the rest of the letter. Other than that, I think they did a good job making things stand out and organizing the letter.

In my example, I decided to take the idea from example 1 and use a border to create contrast. I also displayed contrast by using a different font and font size at the top to display where the letter is coming from. I used alignment by indenting each paragraph and I also used bullet points to list the different characterisitics of business students. I used proximity by splitting the paragraphs up instead of grouping them all together. Lastly, I used repeition by repeating College of Business throughout the letter since that is what the letter is about.
